History and story
Completed in 2010, the approximately 5,700 m² ensemble was designed by architect Vazha Orbeladze. Its architecture evokes Italy; it should not be described as an exact copy of a square in Venice.
What to see
The central 106 m² figurative marble mosaic was designed by Natali de Pita-Amirejibi, using marble from 15 countries. The official Georgian tourism description says the musical clock plays the Georgian anthem or a melody dedicated to Batumi every three hours, with figures in traditional dress. This does not guarantee a performance at a particular visit time.
